Cloud Ceiling
Cloud Ceiling is a permanent interactive installation designed specifically for Progress Bar in Chicago, USA. Constructed from hand-bent steel, reflective mylar, electronics, motion sensors, LEDs, and 15,000 light bulbs, the piece was built by Wayne Garrett & Caitlind r.c. Brown (Calgary, Canada). As patrons pass beneath the installation, they set off motion sensors within the cloud. By mapping their progress through the space, Cloud Ceiling literally highlights social electricity while creating moments of dazzlement and magic. Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett are Canadian artists best known for whimsical light-bulb sculptures and interactive installations. Their projects address public interactivity, the social effects of light, and community collaboration.
